The Smokers do not produce only the smoke.

    I like smoking. I really enjoyed smoking and want to do so now. When I was disturbed, a cigarette was willing to be my friend. But this friend was often unwelcomed by my other friends. Now I know there is a severe price that comes with smoking. So I left my old friend. 

    Many smokers claimed that a cigarette is a item of personal preference. I agree that they have the right of enjoying it. On the other hand, they don't have the right of bothering others. Although smokers really don't want to disturb others, they do hurt other people's feeling and well-being. It's needless to say the smoke from the cigarette causes the cancer. A birth of the disabled baby can happen because of the smoke, too. These two reasons are so obvious that smokers are cautious about giving off the smoke to others. But there are something that smokers can't feel easily.

   First, nonsmokers hate smoking smell, but smokers can't feel how terrible the smell is. In my case, I can feel the smell 3 months after quiting smoking. They should know that they emit very powerful smell such as a decaying egg. One of my friends hesitates talks with a smoker because of this smell.

Making the environment dirty is also important problem. A smoking produces three trashs. A cigarette butt, ashes and spittle. Although smokers know that trashs are thrown into a gabage can, it's natural for them to throw these trashes on the street because most smokers do so. Others can't understand that and after all, they hate smokers much more.

   I really recommend smokers to be cautious when smoking. They should be able to consider many facters above-mentioned. Otherwise, they must quit smoking like me.

The tough world to smoke.

 

     Smoking ruins people's body. The smoke from the cigarettes is unhealthy for not only the smoker but also his family and friends. And the smell bothers to people's noses. The cigarette is regarded as drugs now.

    Nevertheless, I defend on the right of the smokers. The cigarette is an item of personal preference. Just 5 years ago, heavy smokers didn't have difficulty in smoking. It was easy to see people smoke in the car or the restaurant. But Korea has changed completely. The government still sells cigarettes, but there is few places to enjoy them. Most of all, an unfavorable atmosphere makes smokers embarrassed. I understand their stand because I was a smoker, too. I smoked for almost eight years and had to quit smoking because of people's dislike about the smokers. I could do it luckily, but stopping smoking isn't easy for me at all. In fact, many people try and give up. They have to smoke inevitably. It's too harsh to drive them away without thoughtful considerations. It's essential that the government expand anti-smoking clinics and smoking sections for smokers as well as nonsmokers.

World of English

  
    The Japanese have been passive to communicate in English, although the whole world accepts English as second language. But they undergo a change especially in business. Several Japanese companies announced that they will communicate only in English according to stream of the world business. Many people is critical of their past method of education of English which focused only on reading and writing. So the Japan government will turn their method into more practical and active one.

 

 

    Honestly, I'm not favorable of this English world. The Korean as well as the Jananese have been under so much stress because of English. I think that they have gone to extreme lengths to follow stream of the world business. I don't agree to the policy of those Japanese companies. Communicating in English despite with native language which is the better way is ridiculous.

Is there a funny movie?

  I introduce to you this movie, 'A-Team'. It originated from the drama which had been famous in America 20 years ago and released this year. Within the actors, I know only Liam Neeson who acted in Schindler's List(1993) but the others are also famous hollywood actors. The genre of this movie is action film, but there are many things, such as humor, thriller, military, cool story and so on. The main characters are rangers who serve special military duties in the US army. Their leader Hannibal Smith is strategical general and his bold plans are very unexpected. The rest 3 member are very capable follower. Although they would fight one another, they finally complete the remarkable assignment which looks impossible.

 

   Before I saw this movie, I had regarded it as one of the killing-time action movies. But I really enjoyed it so I saw it over and over again. In fact, it's too well-made to be regarded as a simple killing-time movie. Exciting action scenes, a well-knit plot, and most of all, the attractive and funny characters are ready to entertain you. I already recommended it to many friends and none was satisfied with it. How about killing your time with a laugh and amazement?

 

 

 

Do you want to know yourself?

  Second, a monkey symbolizes your lifetime partner. In my case, I decided to carry a monkey in my arms because I feel strong protective instinct to the partner. You may decide to walk hand in hand because you want a equal partner. Did you happen to think about tieing the money's neck with a leash? Sorry, I can't explain that...
  Last, your bird is the child of your future. The most answer I heard was keeping a bird in its cage. Child psychologists say that people have the desire to control their children as if they worry about the bird's flying away. My mother said that she wants to keep a bird free. In fact, she would trust my sister and me and leave us as we are.

My heart blows up!

   Have you ever felt like your heart will blow up? I'm in that condition now. 'Destiny', do you believe it? I did not. But now I thank God  she exists and I know her, although I don't have a religion. 
 
  When I saw her first, I thought "Oh, she is a girl." That means she didn't attract my eyes because she was very quiet and unnoticable. However, the more I meet her, the more I like her. She is so pretty, beautiful, cute, smart and, and... it's too hard to explain her exactly.
 
  Since I was born, I haven't liked a person so much. I think her all day and she appears even in my dream. I wake up with a smile every morning and I feel like my heavy bag became a leaf. Whenever I meet her, her smiling face makes me full of energy and my heart is ready to blow up. I'm willing to give her everything and do anything for her. Oh, I can't resist her power.

  Yes, I think I'm crazy. Bradley Pitt, Ji-Sung Park and Steve Jobs?
So what?  I never envy them. I'm the happiest guy in the world!

I hate 'Bang!'

 

  I'm a simple-minded person. So I heard that I am fearless from my friends. However, I also had a scary experience unforgettable.

  5 years ago, when I served military service, it happened.  I was a member of artillery which controls a cannon. In that time, the army held the biggist shooting match in a year and our team participated in this event. Because there are three-star general and the President,  almost every shooting team was very nervous. This event was great chance to get a vacation but we were able to be punished if we made mistakes.

  Luckily, the sky was clear and the wind was not strong, that is, the weather was the best condition to fire a cannon. Our team practiced so hard that we were sure of success. There came our turn and we carefully fired our cannon at the target. When the cannon ball bet the middle of the target, we gave a shout for joy and relief. We laughed while we were putting our arms away. In that moment, we heard a big bang and fell down due to a shock wave. My comrade dropped off the powder case and it exploded. Oh, I can't forget his legs covered with blood. I was so scared stiff and not able to do anything. I only wanted to escape this situation. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance and the event became spoiled.  It was a mercy that the powder was not for destruction but for competition. If it had not been so, he would have died including our team. We were finally punished for carelessness.

  After experiecing this event, I become frightened when I see a war film so far. Bang reminds me of this terrible memory.

Do you know there is a fantastical road in our university?

  The place which I want to introduce is somewhere in SNUST university. Well, you think that it's odd to explain our university. But this place is not known to many people. I found this place not long ago and was very pleased to know that. My friends call this place "Te-Pa-Gil", short for the road of Techno Park.

 

  Almost all students know the Techno Park. It's a 10-story building located on the highst hill in the campus. The gray building looks newly built and modern. There are many people inside and out of the building because of the best school cafeteria as well as many classes. However, if you go east along the street and get out of the campus, you will see nobody except some cars running on an avenue. I focus on this road, "Te-Pa-Gil"

  A downhill road lasts more than 1 kilometer and leads to Cancer Center hospital from Techno Park, surrounding the campus. This road makes an S and includes a two lane road and a sidewalk. The green surface of sidewalk is soft material, so anyone who walks on it would feel comfortable. There are red flowers along the right side of the roadway. With many trees, this small flowers express sweet scent. And you can hear only the sounds of passing cars and the wind. When you go down the street, the strong wind will blow to you. So you think it's very quiet and cool site. Without caring other people, you can do anything such as dancing, singing and enjoying the date with your girl friend.

 

  Whether I'm anxious or boring, I go to this road and enjoy it. Try doing so like me. Then, you will like this road too.

Enjoying Chusuok

  It's exciting to think about what to do for the week of Chuseok.
With my family, I should go to Muju where my grand parent's live.
My familiy always go to grand parent's home on the Chuseok.
In there, we can meet many relatives and eat traditional Korean food

as well as have a ceremony ,"Cha-Rye", to praise our ancestors.



  Mostly, I wait Chuseok because of the special foods. I love eating. Tasty food is very important to me. In ordinary  days, we students can't eat very costly meat or drink. So Chuseok is great gift for me. There are lots of delicious, traditional, special foods especially for the period of Chuseok. It's reasonable because Chuseok is a Korean 'Thanks Giving Day'.  I like the Song-Pyeon, Korean rice cake, very much.



  Of course, I wouldn't do only eating. I like my grand parents, cousins, uncles. Chuseok is valuable chance to meet them.
When I was child, I used to fly a kite with my relatives. Oh, we loved fire-works too. When I burnt so many trees, I was severely scolded by my father. But It was very thrilling. In this holydays we would drinks and play 'Go-Stop', korean card game. We always bet a little money, so the game becomes exciting. However, I'm not poker face, I often lost my money :)

  In this year, Chuseok holiday lasts for a week. So I expect this vacation to meet, play, eat so many things.

My role model, 'Genghis Khan'.

   I respect 'Genghis Khan' who was the founder and ruler of the Mongol Empire. The Mongol Empire was the largest empire about 800 years ago. It conquered Europe, Persia as well as China.  The whole territory of this empire is twice as large as that of the Roman Empire, the second largest empire. Under the command of 'Genghis Khan', the Mongol carried out unexampled military accomplishment.

  Genghis Khan was known as cruel invader like 'Adolf Hitler'. In fact, his army killed millions of people and looted many villages. So 'Mongol Invasion' was fear to many countries in medieval history. The Mongol Empire also invaded Korea 7 times. However, Khan obviously differs from Hitler. Khan didn't commit racial discrimination and was generous to anyone who surrendered. He also granted citizenship to them. This engagement policy was the key of maintaining the largest empire. Otherwise, he destoyed everything. I agree that he was not a virtuous leader. Nevertheless, he deserves that we should respect him.

  First, Khan was highly ambitious. So he was hopeful and didn't give up easily. When he was young, his condition was terrible but he believed that he can do it.  After all, he became a emperor. The following sentences is his words which made me respect him.

 Don't say "I'm poor". When I was 9 years old,   I lost my father and was thrown out from my country. In order to survive, I had to eat a mouse.

 Don't say "It's too difficult. I'll give up".  
I escaped from enemy with my body tied up.

And I became restored although I was shot in my cheek.

 The real enemy is in my own mind. Once I had overcame the enemy,  I became the Khan( emperor).

 

  Second, he had great leadership. The number of his army was nearly 130,000 and had to fight millions of enemies. Because Khan was strategical and always admired his army, the Mongol army can have defeated numerous enemies. In medieval war, western armies equipped lancers and heavy armors but the Mongol army was a light cavalryman who shots arrows. It's so speedy and dynamic that military experts rank the Mongol army as the most strategical army.

 

  I will be confident and hopeful. So 'Genghis Khan' is my role model. He did fight himself and finally won. In my life, there will be so many things that bother me. But I'd like to overcome the difficuties so did Genghis Khan.

I'v lived in Myung-il, Seoul since I was baby.  So I usually take more than a hour going to school. It's pity, isn't it? :)
